by Chook inwhen they sent out internal letter to elders regarding the binding of elders book , worldly men could do the job but only under supervision of a elder.
but under no circumstance could a sister touch the book.
the idiots put it in print, any elders wives on this forum should take it up with their man.

Re elders wife's, just my observation but it was ovbious to me that many elders shared their "sensitive elder secrets" with the wife. I also think many of those elders wife's were satisfied with this perceived privalige. Are any elders wife's on the forum able to confirm my sneaky observations :-)

What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

Smiddy, your answer was I believe a very similar answer to my last post. However I stopped short of saying " stop trying to find a meaning for it" as I thought of Coftys O.P " The origin of life". From that O.P I realized personally I am not interested in the " origin of life" as I think I would dedicate too much time searching for the answer, and the " purpose of my life" simply doesn't allow that time. However I appreciate for others the "purpose of life" is trying to find answers to such questions.
Can you imagine all the wonderful art that would not exist if the artists purpose in life was to " find the purpose in life" or be social with friends and take his wife out 3 times a week. The artist creates because he/she does not allow such distractions to stop them creating. The artist is an artist and that is the artists purpose in life.

Well since last week I have stopped eating meat, because, well I learnt with more detailed descriptions how many of the animals I ate were slaughtered.

What a captivating thought, for in my case as a teenager I thought I new it all, or at least more than most. Instead I was just a young lad, who would have made a lot of mistakes if I had awoken to the truth as a teenager.
I think for a teenager maybe the best way to go about leaving is to do the boring things like playing snooker, having a coffee with friends from work, and thus gain a new social network . Getting on the moral high horse, and loosing your family and "friends" by telling everybody it's a cult is not the way. That's why I would advise come here for support first, and maybe be an armchair reader on more controversial subjects, then when you feel you really have the stuff to support your arguments test the water. However debating is a skill that takes time to learn and therefore it's so no shame to walk away from a discussion and question how you can better defend your viewpoint next time.
Just my opinion.

I will start this O.P by a review of the mental conditionI I find many former or current witnesses at when they join the board :-
1. Broken relationships.
2. Lonliness/ depression
3. Guilt / shame

So for many it takes a great deal of courage to awaken, and I believe the fear of rejection of family and friends is the hardest stumbling block for many in leaving. However fortunately the Internet has given isolated members the opportunity to exchange doctrinal views and personal fears. Of course doctrinal views can result in heated debate, but the online community is also a place to listen and learn.
As for myself I occasionally debate on more controversial subjects, but I usually stop posting on a thread when I find it becomes to cut throat ( translation, when I realize I am making a prat of myself) Anyway my point of the OP is this board can be a wonderful social experience, it's fun joking in debates and even having a laugh, but if your are at the early stages of leaving,I think it's best to use the board as a friendly community to assist with the stress/ fear of leaving.
I say this from past experience, because when I joined I started some controversial posts,and I often made some rush statement, and not by nature being an argumentative person I realized I wasn't helping myself at that stage in my recovery by posting. I then changed my tactic and started OPs that were more relevant to my personal circumstances and I received very thoughtful messages from people who I had never met, and who didn't know me from Adam, and I felt I really got the benifit of an online community.
So in conclusion in my opinion we can get what we want from this online community, by deciding when we benifit from being armchair readers, or deciding if we want social activity and friendly support. But if we want to engage in heated debates, we need have the stuff to back up our arguments and my final lesson never post late at night after a few drinks:-)

by Chook inif an elder sitting in a jc has a secret sin of a serious nature, his rulings that took place while this sin was unknown are still binding.
in a court of law of most countries that would be a grounds for appeal.
regardless i know they are kangaroo courts ,where anyone who has any biblical knowledge knows they can't back up a scriptural reference for a three man tribunal.

I think we must understood Judical Comittess are kangaroo courts, to suit congressional needs, financed by a business organisation hiding behind a religion. Therefore reason and justice are not applied. I say this because you assume the assumption that an elder having sat on a J.C whist hiding a secret sin would make the others elders question the decision. This would rarely happen because the elders would have to question the "Holy Spirit" and "ummm" their own " Jehover" given authority to have made a decision with that " Holy Spirit" in the first place.

Do you remember 1975? I remember 1984.
by The Rebel inif i mention "1984" you will probably think of george orwell and his book " 1984".however i think of "1984" as a year in my life when watford football club reached the f.a cup final.
( the f.a cup is the biggest footballing occasion in english sport, and my club " little watford" were in it) but instead of going to watch the game, i was forced by my dad to miss attending the match and prioritize on theocratic w.t study.. so for me the year 1984 was the year i should have woken up to " the truth about the truth" sadly it took another 30 years of generation and doctrinal change before this boy became " awake" and understood his defining moment and realized he was fooled by the w.t.. anyway 1984 was a long time ago, but today in 2016, i realized 1984 had a " modern day 2016 application" that happened last saturday, when i took my boy to watch my " little " watford play "mighty "manchester united" and we won 3.1. now it's wednesday and my boy and i are still on cloud 9, even orlandos school teacher started monday lessons by saying " well done watford ".
yes little watford outplayed and beat the mighty united.

Yes little Watford outplayed and beat the mighty United. This is what life is about, it's not about living with and being fooled by a mighty cult. These leaders are not better than us, and they are not worth picking fights with. So I am glad I have created a new life and I no longer allow the ego of the " mighty " G.B to overshadow that life. So I have moved on,and this prodigal son now says I beat the G.B by finding happiness and moving on in my life...
If this O.P seems selfish, I would say everytime I see a witness I pity them, but I would be shocked if my reasoning with them will ever work. Jehovers Witnesses are a cult and the call to reason and convincing people they have been fooled by a cult is hard, because they need a defining moment. .My defining moment was 1984, and I believe the trick to helping people out a cult is not 1975, or 1914 generation changes but finding in a cult member their individual reason to move on ...mine was 1984 and a football match a cult made me miss.

The Rebel, Well as its my life I need to get on with it, and put the spaghetti on, bring it to the boil whilst the king size prawns enter the frying pan. I am a lucky guy to have a family who pretend to appreciate my attempts at making spaghetti & king sized prawns" ummm yummy really tastes nice". Now as for tonight I wish my wife would "ummm " she can be magical, if she would just finish reading our boy his good night stories before I am sadly asleep....
The purpose of life, is not wearing the latest Nike shoes, even the witnesses were right about that. So how does " what is the purpose of life" work? Well I would say, simply have control, because the years go by so fast they can just disappear.
Anyway we await for Slim to give us the correct answer. Don't we...!!!
